Of course, in an audition, we all want to come across as spontaneous beings like Marlon Brando, giving the impression we’ve skilfully never spoken these words before, and rightly so. But this takes preparation. Ideally, our preparation gives us the flexibility to be spontaneous, after all, many casting directors may want to see a piece performed in a variety of ways.
